CHINESE NEW YEAR OPEN HOUSE RECEPTION

In conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration, The Embassy of Malaysia, Phnom Penh held a Chinese New Year Open House Reception on 04 February 2012. The reception was hosted by Datuk Pengiran Haji Hussein, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Kingdom of Cambodia and wife, Datin Patmawati A.M. Hussein.
The event was held at the Multipurpose Hall, Embassy of Malaysia Phnom Penh and started from 3.30 p.m. and ended around 5 p.m.
The joyous event was graced by the Ambassador who gave a welcoming speech to 150 Malaysians and their families. Later on, he invited all the VIP guests to toss a yee sang before proceeding to gave ang pows to all children who attended the event. The crowd was treated with various Malaysian and Cambodian cuisines and also entertained by melodious Chinese New Year songs during the event.
The event is part of the Malaysian government’s effort to promote 1Malaysia concept, to preserve unity and togetherness through embracing multi-cultural and multi-racial background of Malaysia. It is also a good venue for Malaysians who reside in Cambodia to mingle around and get to know each other.
