ASEAN FOREIGN MINISTER’S RETREAT (AMM RETREAT)

FOREIGN MINISTER, 10-11 JANUARY 2012
Y.B. Dato’ Sri Anifah Hj Aman, Foreign Minister of Malaysia attended the ASEAN Foreign Minister’s Retreat (AMM Retreat) which was held on 10 - 11 January 2012 at the Grand Soluxe Angkor Resort, Siem Reap. The AMM Retreat marks the first series of ASEAN meetings hosted by Cambodia as the Chair of ASEAN for 2012.
The AMM Retreat, was attended by all the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the ASEAN Member States and Secretary-General of ASEAN, and chaired by His Excellency Mr. HOR Namhong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia.
Malaysian delegation to the retreat was led by Y.B. Dato’ Sri Anifah Hj Aman, Foreign Minister of Malaysia and YBhg. Tan Sri Mohd Radzi bin Abdul Rahman, Secretary General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia led the Malaysian SOM delegation. Other senior officials that attended the retreat were Director General of ASEAN-Malaysian National Secretariat and Deputy PR of Malaysia to ASEAN. Also present was Datuk Pengiran Hj. Mohd Hussein b. Datuk Pengiran Hj. Mohd Tahir Nasruddin, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Kingdom of Cambodia and spouse. YB Minister and delegation were accommodated at the Sokha Angkor Hotel. The Embassy of Malaysia Phnom Penh set up a Secretariat to coordinate all logistic and administrative arrangement.
Apart from attending the retreat, Y.B. Dato’ Sri also spend some time to host a dinner with Malaysians who reside in Siem Reap. The dinner was attended by 50 Malaysians and was hosted at the Terrace de Elephant Hotel, Siem Riep.
Y.B. Dato’ Sri also spared dome private moments on a tour to see the famous Angkor Wat and its surrounding temples and taken for a boat cruise in Tonle Sap Lake.
