On 1 August 2023, H.E. Datuk Ambassador Eldeen Husaini, accompanied by the Malaysian Tourism Director, Ms. Pot Rany, met the President of the Cambodian Tourism Association (CATA), Lok Chumteav Chhay Sivlin, at Topaz Restaurant, Phnom Penh.
Both sides discussed potential tourism collaborations to boost tourist arrivals from both sides, such as inbound and outbound tourism, and Muslim-friendly tourism. Lok Chumteav is a very influential person in the Cambodian tourism industry and has worked with Malaysia on many occasions to cultivate tourism as one of the important economic income-generating industries in Cambodia. The Embassy looks forward to working closely with CATA and tourism agencies in Cambodia in ensuring the tourism industry is up and running again.
