54th ASEAN Day Celebration

The 54th ASEAN Day celebration was held at the Official Residence of the Ambassador with ACK Chair, Cambodia, as a co-host. Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs, ASEAN Ambassadors/CDA ai and ACK Working Group attended the event.
The event was conducted with strict COVID-19 preventive SOPs as stipulated by the local health authority.
It is worth noting that the ASEAN Day celebrations in Kuwait were also held at the Official Residence of the Ambassador of Malaysia of fondly known as Rumah Malaysia, in 2018 and 2019.
The event began with remarks of the Chair of the ACK, in which he highlighted that ASEAN should redouble the efforts to strengthen the community and effectively promote relations with its dialogues partners, especially the current challenging time due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic around the globe.
In regard to the bilateral cooperation between ASEAN and Kuwait, the Chair emphasized his confidence that the relations will continue to grow, flourish and strengthen.
ASEAN Day is celebrated annually to commemorate its establishment in 1967 and promote ASEAN's visibility to the relevant stakeholders. This year's ASEAN theme is "We Care, We Prepare, We Prosper" which reflects ASEAN preparedness in the post-COVID-19 pandemic era.
ASEAN is among the most dynamic regions and the third biggest economy in the world. ASEAN is projected to become the fourth biggest global economic powerhouse by 2050.
