Heads of Mission of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Kuwait commemorated the 44th Anniversary of ASEAN by hoisting the ASEAN flag side-by-side with the national flag of each respective ASEAN countries on 8 August 2011.
The ceremony was attended by all nine ASEAN Ambassadors and Charge d'Affaires residing in Kuwait as well as members of the diplomatic staff of each Embassy. This historic ceremony was held at the Embassy of Indonesia in Kuwait as Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Kuwait.
In recognising the importance of the spirit of ASEAN, the Head of Mission of its member states in Kuwait agreed to establish the ASEAN Community on 5 May 2011 and agreed to the appointment of Indonesia as Chair.
The ASEAN flag hoisting serves as a symbol of it's commitment to community building efforts. The ASEAN Committee in Kuwait will continue its effort to realise the vision of ASEAN Community as well as in enhancing mutually beneficial relationship with Kuwait.
