On 9 August 2011, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait officially opened the Inter-Embassy Futsal Tournament 2011. The opening ceremony was graced by Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kuwait as well as attended by Heads of Mission of the diplomatic corp.
The annual indoor futsal tournament is being held for the second time during the month of Ramadhan where 32 teams from various Embassies took part this year.
The seven-member Malaysian team were drawin against Uzbekistan for the first match where Malaysia came-out as comfortable winners with 3-0. In the second match, however, Malaysia was pitted against a very strong Iranian team and eventually lost 2-0 in a very hard-fought game.
Despite the disappointment, the Embassy of Malaysia wishes to congratulate the Malaysian team in reaching the second-round as well as displaying determination, team work and two good games of football.
