KUWAIT, May 13 (Bernama)- Malaysia has the potential to attract more Kuwaiti students to pursue high education in the country, said Malaysian Ambassador to Kuwait, Dato' Ashaary Sani.
"Kuwaitis are keen to study in Malaysia," he told Malaysian journalists here Tuesday.
He said there were ample education opportunities in Malaysia as highlighted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi during a visit here to attend the World Islamic Economic Forum early this month.
Ashaary, who had earlier received a courtesy call by the Tourism Malaysia Director of Promotions (South Asia/West Asia/Oceania/Africa) Azizan Noordin, said he hoped that Malaysian universities and colleges could organise a road show to attract Kuwaiti students.
"I believe that they have been looking for opportunities to study abroad but they may have not known much about the facilities provided by Malaysia," he said.
At the moment, he said, there were only a small number of Kuwaiti students in Malaysia compared to students from other Gulf nations.
On tourism, he said, Kuala Lumpur had been among the places visited by tourists from Kuwait.
"But we can actually do more in attracting them to visit east Malaysia," he said.
As with tourists from other Middle East countries, tourists from Kuwait would also be travelling abroad during summer between June and August, he said.
About 17,000 tourists from Kuwait visited Malaysia last year.
