Head of Mission

His Excellency Ambassador Edi Irwan bin Mahmud is a career diplomat who has served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia since 2001. He has served at Malaysian Missions in Yemen, Vietnam, Fiji, and Australia. Prior to his assignment as the Malaysian Ambassador to the Lao PDR, Ambassador Edi Irwan had served as the Deputy Chief of Protocol, Department of Protocol and Consular from 2019 to 2022. Ambassador Edi Irwan is the 8th Malaysian Ambassador to the Lao PDR and 16th Head of Mission at the Embassy of Malaysia in Vientiane.
