OTHER CONSULAR SERVICES

1. ATTESTATION OF DOCUMENTS

 

Attestation of Malaysian Documents Issued in Malaysia

Applicant or authorised representative must be present at the High Commission of Malaysia for the purpose of attestation. The Malaysian documents to be attested (only official documents issued in Malaysia) MUST be endorsed by the relevant authorities in Malaysia (e.g. Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia) AND the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia in Putrajaya.

 

Required Documents:

 

i)  Malaysian documents to be attested (only official documents issued in Malaysia);

ii)  Letter of Authorisation for submission on behalf of the applicant (if applicable);

iii) One (1) copy of applicant’s and authorised representative's passport / Identification Document (in English);

iv) One (1) copy of applicant’s and authorised representative's Malaysian Identification Card (MyKad) (for Malaysian only); and

v)  Request letter from applicant.

 

Charges: RM 20.00 for each signature required from the Consular Officer (to be paid in local currency as per the Monthly Exchange Rates)

 

Attestation of Documents Issued in Sri Lanka / Maldives

Applicant or authorised representative must be present at the High Commission of Malaysia for the purpose of attestation. The documents to be attested MUST be endorsed by the Foreign Ministry of Sri Lanka / Maldives.

 

Required Documents:

 

i)  Documents to be attested (already endorsed by the Foreign Ministry of Sri Lanka / Maldives);

ii)  Original document to be attested;
iii)
Letter of Authorisation for submission on behalf of the applicant (if applicable);

iv) One (1) copy of applicant’s and authorised representative's passport / Identification Document (in English); and

v)  Request letter from applicant.

 

Charges: RM 20.00 for each signature required from the Consular Officer (to be paid in local currency as per the Monthly Exchange Rates)

 

 

2. COLLECTION OF THE CERTIFICATE OF GOOD CONDUCT

 

Certificate of Good Conduct/Police Clearance is issued upon request by Sri Lankan/ Maldivian who resided in Malaysia for not less than 12 months (on work permit / student permit etc.). It can be applied online at www.kln.gov.my/e-consular

 

Required documents (for collection):

 

i)   Printout of Status Update page (status should be “Ready for Collection”);

ii)  Request letter from the applicant; and

iii) Original + copy of passport (front page and Malaysia’s permit page).

 

Charges: RM 20.00 (To be paid in local currency as per the Monthly Exchange Rates)

 

Note: Commencing 1 March 2025, the Certificate of Good Conduct can be downloaded via e-Konsular System and the authenticity of the certificate can be verify using the Adobe Acrobat Reader or alternatively, by eValidator mobile application, produced by Pos Digicert Sdn. Bhd. The mobile application can be downloaded at any main apps platform.

 

 

3. ISSUANCE OF EMERGENCY CERTIFICATE (LOSS OF TRAVEL DOCUMENT/PASSPORT)

 

It is advisable that you keep a photocopy of your passport at all times to facilitate you. Malaysian whose passport has lost/damaged/stolen may make a report to the High Commission and can obtain the Emergency Certificate. 

 

Required documents: 

 

i)  Form IM 42C (forms can be printed from http://www.immi.gov.my or can be obtained from the High Commission) and police lost from;

ii)  Police report from local police station with English translation;

iii) Malaysian Identification Document (IC/Driving Licence etc);

iv) 3 Passport size photos (white background);

v)  Covering letter to the Visa Officer;

vi) Passport copy; and

vii) Ticket confirmation.

 

Note: An Emergency Certificate will be issued by the Mission which would enable the person to travel to Malaysia (one way trip).

 

Charges: RM 50.00 (to be paid in local currency as per the Monthly Exchange Rates)

 

 

4. UNOFFICIAL TRANSLATION OF MALAYSIAN DOCUMENT

 

Malaysian can translate Malaysian document such as Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate & Driving License at the High Commission.

 

Required Documents:

 

i)   Original and copy of document(s) to be translated; and

ii)  Request letter from applicant.

 

Charges: RM 20.00 (to be paid in local currency as per the Monthly Exchange Rates)

 

 

5. SHORTENING / CANCELLATION OF STUDENT / GUARDIAN VISA

 

Effective 22 October 2025, application for shortening / cancellation of student or guardian visa can be made through the High Commission of Malaysia.  

 

Required Documents:

 

i)   Cover or request letter;

ii)  Original Passport;

iii) Copy of Passport;

iv) Copy of Student Visa / Pass (still valid);

v)  Status Confirmation Letter from Academic Institution; and

vi) Other relevant supporting documents.

 

Note: Applicants are advised to contact the High Commission of Malaysia to confirm their eligibility before submitting any application.

 

 

6. RENUNCIATION OF CITIZENSHIP

 

Malaysian can apply for renunciation of citizenship status through the High Commission under Article 14 of the Federal Constitution. The application will be submitted to National Registration Department (Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara) for approval. 

 

Required Documents:

 

i)   2 copies of Form K (can be obtained from the High Commission);

ii)  Original Birth Certificate;

iii) Original Identity Card;

iv) Malaysian Passport;

v)  Original Malaysian Citizenship Certificate / Card (if applicable);

vi) Copy of Citizenship Card or Passport obtained from another country; and

vii) 2 passport sized photos.
