Secretary General Dato’ Sri Amran Mohamed Zin, with his Chinese counterpart, H.E. Hong Liang co-chaired the 23rd ASEAN-China Senior Officials Meeting on the Implementation of the Declaration of the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea (SOM-DOC) on 21 February 2025 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The meeting continued its discussions on the implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea and the future direction of negotiations on the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea following the successful conclusion of the third reading of the Single Draft Negotiating Text (SDNT) during the 45th ASEAN-China Joint Working Group Meeting on the Implementation of the DOC (JWG-DOC) from 27 to 29 November 2024 in Vientiane, Lao PDR.
Malaysia assumed the role of the country coordinator for the ASEAN-China Dialogue in August 2024 until July 2027. In this regard, Malaysia will co-chair the SOM-DOC and JWG-DOC during its country coordinatorship.
