On 10 November, H.E. Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, Ambassador of Malaysia to Mexico received a courtesy call at the Chancery by Ms. Yesenia Salgado Servin, Sixth Councillor of the Ixtlahuaca municipality. Ixtlahuaca is the town in the State of Mexico where Malaysia has been having a good presence since 2012, when the National University of Malaysia (UKM) organized the Seminar/Workshop on Latin American and Asian Studies (LASA) at the Centro Universitario de Ixtlahuaca (CUI). Present at the inaugural event were the team from the Institute of Malaysian and International Studies (IKMAS) UKM, headed by Prof. Dr. Rashila Ramli, as well as H.E. Dato’ Jamaiyah M. Yusof, the former Ambassador.
During the courtesy call, apart from dicussing the mobility programme and cultural collaboration, Ms. Salgado extended an invitation to the Ambassador as honoured guest to the Intercultural Mazahua (indigenous tribe) Ixtlahuaca Festival at Ixtlahuaca town from 18 to 20 November 2016.
