OIC Council of Ambassadors Mexico City Met with President
of the Chamber of Deputies (Parliament) Mexico
On 3rd July 2017, the OIC Ambassadors based in Mexico City met with H.E. Dip. Maria Guadalupe Murguia Gutierrez, President of the Chamber of Deputies at the Chamber of Deputies in Mexico City. The Meeting was arranged by the Ministry of External Relations (SRE), Mexico and the Embassy of Egypt as the Dean of the OIC Council of Ambassadors. During the Meeting, pertinent OIC issues were raised among others, the Palestinian cause, situation in Syria, Jammu and Kashmir, Nagorno-Karabakh and Rohingya as well as terrorism. Present at the Meeting were Ambassadors of Algeria, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Libya, Malaysia, Morocco, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Turkey and United Arab Emirates. H.E. Ambassador Jorge Alvarez Fuentes, Director General for Africa and Middle East, SRE was also present.
In her remarks, Dip. Murguia stated that she viewed the Meeting as a good opportunity to get to know one another. She appreciated the Group`s message of peace as it would greatly contribute for a better world. She added that Mexico having a pluralistic society upheld human rights and international laws. In his intervention, H.E. Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, Ambassador of Malaysia to Mexico raised the moderation approach promoted by Malaysia in dealing with myriad issues faced by the international community.
