Five newly appointed Malaysian Heads of Mission visited Kuching from 20 – 21 February 2011 prior to their new assignments. The Excellencies were:
i. Dato’ Hayati Ismail
High Commissioner of Malaysia to Canada
ii. Dato’ Abdullah Sani Omar
High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam
iii. Dato’ Than Tai Hing
Ambassador of Malaysia to Laos
iv. Datuk Yong Teck Shing
President of the Malaysian Friendship and Trade Centre, Taipei
v. Mr. Chuah Teong Ban
Ambassador of Malaysia to Ukraine
The main programme of the visit was the courtesy call on Y.A.B. Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud, Chief Minister of Sarawak on 21 February 2011. The call was held at the new State Assembly Hall.
The Heads of Mission were also briefed on the latest initiatives implemented towards the realization of Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) by the State Planning Unit of the Chief Minister’s Department.
In brief, the visit was a success and indeed has allowed the new Heads of Mission to be acquainted with the vigorous efforts undertaken by the State Government to continue developing Sarawak and its population.
