Passport Renewal

Passport renewals and new passport applications are available to the public from 09:30 to 12:30, Monday to Friday, except on Malaysian and Nigerian public holidays. Renewals are by appointment only.

Application for passport renewal can also be made via registered post for Malaysians residing in Benin, Cameroon, Chad, Central Africa Republic, Equatorial Guinea, and Gabon (postage fee may apply.)

Malaysian passports are issued by the Immigration Department in Putrajaya. The processing time for a new passport can take up to 6 months. You are strongly advised to apply well in advance of your planned travel to ensure your new passport is ready on time.

Applicants must provide the following documents (original and photocopy) when applying for a passport renewal or new passport:

Application Form IM.42 - Pin 1/97 (available at the High Commission)
Valid Residence Permit
Three (3) identical passport photographs
Current passport
Malaysian Identity Card (IC)
Birth Certificate/ Borang H or W - for children age 12 and below
Parents’ Malaysian Identity Card (IC) - for children age 12 and below
Passport renewal fee NGN80,000.00 (Please bring the exact amount in cash only)

Passport photo requirements:

Photo taken in full-face view directly facing the camera with neutral facial expression, both eyes open and mouth closed
Photo must be taken by a professional photo shop. Instant or polaroid photo is not acceptable.
No head coverings unless worn daily for religious purposes
Head scarf should be in a dark color and can’t cast any shadows on the face
White background
35mm x 50mm
No glasses or contact lenses
No earrings or other accessories
Dark clothes covering shoulders and chest
Ears and hairline have to be visible
