As the current Chairman of ASEAN Committee in The Hague and in conjunction with the commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN, Embassy of Malaysia in The Hague hosted the ASEAN Flag hoisting ceremony on 8 August 2017. Celebration was inaugurated with the hoisting of the ASEAN flag along with ASEAN Way theme song by members of the ASEAN Embassies in The Hague in presence of several special guests including the Mayor of The Hague, Madam Pauline KRIKKE and Mr Peter Portman, Director for the Department of Asia and Oceania, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.
In the spirit of unity, cooperation and celebration every ASEAN Embassies in The Hague (Malaysia, Thailand, Viet Nam and Philippines) contributed their respective dishes for the event namely Biryani rice, selection of traditional kuihs and local fruits (Malaysia), traditional spring rolls (Viet Nam), crispy rice cake and peanut dipping (Thailand), a fish dishes (Philippines) and filled tofu (Indonesia). They also performed their respective captivating cultural songs, enchanting traditional dance and played mesmerising musical instruments.
