From 8 October to 7 November 2010, the Embassy of Malaysia and Tourism Office in the Netherlands jointly held a photography exhibition on Malaysia, as part of the 4th GRID 2010 International Photography Biennial in Amsterdam.
The GRID 2010 event was organised by Amsterdam Photo Foundation (GRID) and co-sponsored by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and various hotels in Amsterdam. The exhibition is held once in two years and aims at showcasing various cultures and the latest trends in contemporary photography. It is the biggest international image-based event in the Netherlands.
More than 20 countries participated in GRID2010 all over the Netherlands. In the case of Malaysia, the exhibition was held at NH Hotel right at the centre of Amsterdam. Twelve photographs of various cultures and religions in Malaysia were shown in the exhibition, by a Malaysian photographer based in London, Mr. Hanif Mohamed Talha. The theme of the exhibition was 1Malaysia and it portrayed the multi-racial and multi-religious societies in Malaysia, which co-exist harmoniously. The opening of the exhibition was on 8 October 2010 at the NH Hotel by H.E. Ambassador Dr Fauziah Mohamad Taib, followed by a reception.
