The Embassy Sports Club in collaboration with the Malaysian Ladies Association (Perwakilan, The Hague) organised the Malaysia Gala Dinner 2013 on 7 December at Crowne Plaza Hotel, The Hague. At the Gala Dinner, guests were delighted by the offerings of a variety of Malaysian dishes, and dined to the silken singing of Malaysian jazz sensation Atilia – specially flown in from Kuala Lumpur for the event. Not to be outdone, the ladies of Perwakilan gamely put on a fashion show and catwalked to the tunes of ‘Ýou Sexy Thing’ in traditional attire including kurung songket, sari, Kadazan dress, and a Chinese wedding dress. The traditional ‘Tarian Asyik’ was also performed, lending a cultured traditional air to the evening. H.E. Dato Dr Fauziah gave away the grand prize for the Lucky Draw – 2 return tickets to Malaysia graciously sponsored by Malaysian Airlines. The Gala Dinner was well attended by members of the diplomatic Corp, officers from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of the business community, including Malaysian entrepreneurs in the Netherlands and members of the Dutch community and expats alike. |
