The Embassy of Malaysia, MATRADE Netherlands, MIDA Frankfurt, Agriculture office (MOA), and Tourism Malaysia jointly organised The Malaysia Week 2011 which was successfully held from 19 to 24 September 2011 at Bel Air Hotel, The Hague. The event was organised to promote Malaysia’s culture, cuisine and to introduce the vast business opportunities available in Malaysia. Petronas Marketing and Malaysia Airlines also assisted in the successful week.
Throughout the Week, guests were enthralled by the cultural performances from Sarawak which include traditional dances and performance by the Masenidaya Dance Troupe which showcase the colourful and interesting aspects of Malaysian way of life and traditions. Visitors also participated in the Masterchef Challenge where Dutch chefs competed among each other in a culinary challenge using Malaysian ingredients. The visitors were also the judge of the competition.
One of the main attractions during the Malaysia Week was the seminars on business opportunities. Officials from MATRADE and MIDA presented a picture on the vast business opportunities that Malaysia can offer. A seminar on Malaysia Halal Hub Industry received overwhelming response from the participants. A variety of delicious authentic Malaysian cuisine including Nasi Lemak and Roti Canai were served at Bel Air restaurant throughout the week, thanks to two Malaysian chefs’ specially flown in from Malaysia.
For the closing of the Malaysia Week, the Malaysian Association of the Netherlands organised the gala Dinner and Malaysia’s singing sensation Dayang Nur Faizah performed to entertain the audience. The highlight of the day was the raffle draw which offered attractive prizes, including two airline tickets to Malaysia, courtesy of Malaysia Airlines.
