Malawakil The Hague, under MATRADE office, organised a Malaysian Professionals Networking Dinner at China Hotel in Delft, the Netherlands on 18 December 2010. The aim of the event was to establish closer linkages between Malaysian professionals working in the Netherlands and the Malaysian government agencies. The event was attended by about 40 Malaysian professionals working in the private sector in the Netherlands and Belgium.
H.E. Ambassador Dato’ Dr Fauziah Mohamad Taib gave her welcoming remarks at the start of the event, followed by presentations by MITI, MATRADE and MIDA from Brussels, The Hague and Frankfurt. The Malaysian professionals were given an update of the latest government policies such as the Economic Transformation Plan and Malaysia’s bilateral relations with the Netherlands, especially regarding trade and investment. The speakers also urged the Malaysian professionals to continue contributing to Malaysia even though they are working overseas, either through investing in Malaysia, transferring technology and know-how to Malaysia or promoting Malaysia as a tourist destination to their friends. The initiative to organise the networking event was well-received by the Malaysian professionals, who warmly welcomed the event and hoped that it would be organised on a regular basis.
