On 22 September 2025, the Embassy of Malaysia in The Hague hosted a National Day and Malaysia Day Reception in The Hague. The event was attended by over 200 guests, including Dutch government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, Malaysia’s strategic partners, and Malaysian diaspora from all over the Netherlands.
In his welcoming remarks, His Excellency Dato’ Roseli Abdul, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Netherlands, reflected the significance of Hari Kebangsaan and Hari Malaysia for Malaysians; highlighted Malaysia’s stellar achievements in recent years, especially in its capacity as the ASEAN Chair this year; and expressed optimism on the enduring ties between Malaysia and the Netherlands.
In light of the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign, the Embassy also took the opportunity to promote the campaign to all the guests, with a special emphasis on Malaysia’s environmental, historical, and cultural attractions. The guests were then treated to a series of performances as well as Malaysian delicacies, such as kuih bakar pandan, karipap, kuih cara, bingka ubi, serawa durian, and teh tarik.
The Embassy wishes to thank everyone for coming together to celebrate a significant part of Malaysia’s history as well as its rich and diverse cultural heritage. The event was also supported by the Agriculture Counsellor Office, MATRADE, and Tourism Malaysia in The Hague.
