The Hague International Day, 18 September 2011
On Sunday the 18th of September 2011 The Hague Bridge will organise The Hague International Day. The city offers you a unique look behind the scenes of the Hague International City of Peace and Justice. International Organisations open their doors. There will also be an International Fair in the World Forum where organisations and embassies (including the Embassy of Malaysia), this year for the first time!, will present themselves.
Seven international organisations open their doors to the public and more than twenty organisations will present their work at a special International Fair in the World Forum.
The seven organisations which are opening their doors are: the International Court of Justice and Permanent Court of Arbitration (both in the Peace Palace), the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, the International Criminal Court, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and the European Patent Office. The new Europol building will also be open for the public. It is a unique chance to visit these organisations. At the International Fair in the World Forum, international organisations such as NATO C3, Eurojust and the Special Court for Sierra Leone, a large number of NGOs and embassies will be represented. In the World Forum a The Hague Bridge programme called European Dreams, will take place. Universities based in The Hague will debate on the theme of Europe. Boris Dittrich, former Dutch politician and currently working for Human Rights Watch in New York, will discuss human rights and Europe.
Free shuttle buses will depart from the World Forum area during the day to take visitors to the various participating organisations. Only a limited number of people will be admitted to the international organisations; visitors can register starting mid- August via: www.denhaag.nl/internationalday or www.denhaag.nl/journéeinternationale . Internationale Organisaties openen hun deuren op de Haagse Internationale Dag
Op zondag 18 september 2011 vindt in het kader van de Haagse Brug de Haagse Internationale Dag plaats. Op deze dag geeft Den Haag een kijkje in de keuken van de Internationale Stad van Vrede en Recht. Internationale organisaties in Den Haag openen hun deuren. Daarnaast zal een Internationale Markt in het World Forum plaatsvinden waar organisaties, en dit jaar voor het eerst ook ambassades!, zich presenteren (waaronder de Ambassade van Maleisië).
Zeven organisaties zullen hun deuren openen voor het publiek en meer dan twintig organisaties presenteren hun activiteiten op de Internationale Markt. De zeven internationale organisaties zijn: Internationaal Gerechtshof en het Permanent Hof van Arbitrage (beiden gevestigd in het Vredespaleis), Joegoslavië Tribunaal, Internationaal Strafhof, Organisatie voor het Verbod op Chemische Wapens en het Europees Octrooibureau. Ook de recent geopende locatie van Europol zal dit jaar toegankelijk zijn. Het is een unieke kans om deze organisaties te bezoeken. Op de Internationale Markt in het World Forum zijn onder meer NATO C3, Eurojust, het Sierra Leone Tribunaal, een groot aantal NGOs en ambassades aanwezig. Naast de Internationale Markt zal er ook een Haagse Brug programma in het teken van Europa plaatsvinden; Hogescholen van Den Haag zullen tegen elkaar strijden tijdens een debatronde in het kader van European Dreams. Boris Dittrich, oud D 66 politicus en nu werkzaam bij Human Rights Watch in New York, zal spreken over mensenrechten en Europa.
Vanaf het World Forum gebied zullen gratis bussen rijden naar de verschillende internationale organisaties. Het aantal plaatsen voor een bezoek aan de organisaties is beperkt; bezoekers kunnen zich vanaf half augustus aanmelden via www.internationaledag.nl.
