The Embassy of Malaysia in The Hague received a visit of 67 students of Seri Puteri Symphonic Winds Orchestra (SP Winds) accompanied by seven (7) teachers and 15 family members on 20 July 2017. The visit was at the request of SP Winds in conjunction with their participation in section harmony band at the prestigious 2017 World Music Concert in Kerkrade, the Netherlands.
Briefing was provided by all heads of agencies of the Embassy of Malaysia on the role and functions of the embassy in The Netherlands. The students also had the opportunity to interact with embassy staffs during luncheon.
The World Music Contest at Kekrade was founded in 1949 and held every four years. The competition comprises four sections, the music group harmony, fanfare, brass band and perkus ensemble. SP Winds took part in the music group harmony section and had won silver.
Apart from that, SP Winds was also invited to make special performance at ConcertGebouw, Amsterdam on 24 July 2017 sharing a stage with reputable Saratoga High School Symphonic Band & String Orchestra from California, USA.
