YAB Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak hosted an appreciation dinner for the Malaysian MH17 Crisis Team on 31 July at Hotel Okura, Amsterdam. The Prime Minister was in town for a fully scheduled one-day working visit to the Netherlands.
The focus of the visit was on matters related to Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 crash. Earlier in the day, he had met with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte at the latter's office in the Binnenhof in The Hague, after which both leaders gave statements at a joint press conference. The common message in the statements pointed to the shared priorities of the two countries in repatriating the victims and their belongings as well as carrying out full and independent investigations into the incident.
Subsequent to the meeting, YAB Prime Minister signed the condolence book for the Dutch victims, laid flowers outside the gates of the Hilversum military barracks (where the victim identification process is being carried out), received a briefing by the leader of the Dutch disaster victim identification team and met with the next-of kin of Malaysian victims residing in the Netherlands.
The day’s visit was concluded with the appreciation dinner for the Malaysian MH17 Crisis team. Prior to the dinner, YAB PM mingled with the guests, consisting Malaysian DVI team members, JAKIM officers, KAGAT officers, Department of Civil Aviation representatives, Malaysia Airlines representatives, Malaysian students, Embassy staff and members of the Malaysian press. |
