BENCHMARKING VISIT BY TREASURY MALAYSIA TO NEW ZEALAND, 19-24 APRIL 2010
YBhg. Datuk Rahamat Bivi Yusoff, Director of Budget Management Division, Treasury Malaysia, led a team of 9 member delegation from Treasury Malaysia, Economic Planning Unit, MAMPU, ICU, INTAN and Accountant General's Malaysia undertook a 6-day visit to New Zealand. The purpose of the visit was to study the implementation of the outcome based-budgeting (OBB) model in New Zealand.
Whilst in New Zealand, the delegation has had the opportunity to meet and have dialogue with officials from the central agencies like Ministry of Finance New Zealand, Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, State Services Commission, and line agencies like Ministry of Social Development, Department of Conservation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ministry of Health and an expert in Public Sector Financial Management at the Victoria University of Wellington.
YBhg. Datuk Dr. Rahamat Bivi Yusoff also took the opportunity to meet and interact with the officials at the High Commission about the implementation of OBB in Malaysia. His Excellency Dato’ Hasnudin Hamzah, in his welcoming speech, thanked YBhg. Datuk Dr. Rahamat Bivi Yusoff and the delegation for the briefing on OBB because it afforded the officials at the High Commission a first-hand overview and understanding of the OBB. YBhg. Datuk Dr. Rahamat Bivi Yusoff expressed her happiness that the visit was a success and went well. She hoped that the visit will help to establish closer relations between the Malaysian officials and their counterparts from the various agencies in New Zealand.
