- On Tuesday, 4 October 2011, His Excellency Dato' Mazlan Muhammad attended the Inaugural Lecture by Prof Kim-Shyan Fam, a Malaysian who is currently the Professor of Marketing and Head of School, School of Marketing and International Business at the Victoria University of Wellington. The title of his lecture was "Chopstick Advertising - The Art of Marketing to Asia".
- The lecture was also attended by Victoria University of Wellington staff members, members of the diplomatic corp and fellow Malaysians who was gathered to celebrate the successful achievement of Prof Kim Fam in the field of marketing and international business, especially on his primary research theme i.e. influence of culture in affecting the relationship between consumers and advertisers.
- In his welcoming remarks, Prof. Pat Walsh, Vice Chancellor, conveyed his gratitude to His Excellency Dato' Mazlan Muhammad for rendering his time to attend the lecture, as well as congratulating Prof. Kim Fam for his achievements and contributions in bringing the School of Marketing and International Business to greater heights with his active research collaboration and publications.
