With immediate effect, manual extension of passport validity for a period of two-year to Malaysian passports that are due to expire in 2021 is available at the High Commission of Malaysia in Wellington. This service is endorsed by the Immigration Department of Malaysia in consideration of the prolonged international travel restrictions and border closures and to ensure that Malaysians hold a valid identification document during their presence overseas.
The terms and conditions for the manual extension of passport validity are as follow:

The extension is granted to passport that is due to expire in year 2021 only;

Applicant must possess valid long-term visa/working visa/residence permit in New Zealand;

Applicant should be present at the High Commission with the original copy of current passport and all required documents for passport renewal application;

The passports’ new expiry dates will be duly written and stamped on the Observation page or page 48 of the passport by authorised officials at the High Commission;

The passport with extended validity would only allow the holders to remain in New Zealand. The extension would not allow the passport holder to travel internationally until the new passport is received.

No fee will be charged for the extension; and

Other terms and conditions of passport renewal application are still subject to the regulations set by the Immigration Department of Malaysia.
