As conveyed by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the High Commission would like to convey that New Zealand Customs has made changes to rules tht govern the importation of tobacco products and tobacco leaf to New Zealand. In summary, the changes are as follow:
- From 1 July 2020, all importers of tobacco products and tobacco leaf and refuse, require a permit issued by the New Zealand Customs Service.
- Tobacco products, and tobacco leaf and refuse products, will also need to be imported using a freight forwarder, the fast-freight courier system or as bulk sea or air cargo.
- Importers will no longer be able to send any tobacco products, or tobacco leaf or refuse through the International Mail Service operated by New Zealand. Howeve, it is still possible to use New Zealand Post's international courier service.
