The High Commission would like to convey that as advised by the New Zealand Government, the latter has deferred applications for capped Working Holiday Schemes until further notice. This decision will affect applications under the New Zealand Working Holiday Scheme with Malaysia, which had been scheduled to open in early 2021.
This decision was made in light of the current New Zealand border restrictions implemented in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Current restrictions prohibit entry to all but New Zealand citizens, residents and their families, and other travelling to New Zealand with a critical purpose who have received an exemption to do so.
The decision to defer applications under the New Zealand Working Holiday Schemes will be reviewed in 2021.
