REGISTRATION OF AN INFANT BORN OUTSIDE MALAYSIA

 

An application of Malaysian citizenship for an infant born outside Malaysia on or after Malaysia Day (16 September 1963) is based on the status of the father's citizenship. The applicant shall be parent or guardian (next of kin) and the following documents (originals and copies) are required for birth registration:

  1. Infant's Birth Certificate (translated into Malay or English and attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs);

  2. Three (3) Photographs of Infant (passport-sized with blue background);

  3. Parents' MyKad;

  4. Parents' Passports;

  5. Parents' Birth Certificates;

  6. Parents' Marriage Certificate (Registered in National Registration Department (Non-Muslim) / States Islamic Religion Department (Jabatan Agama Islam Negeri);  

  7. Fee for Birth Registration is OMR4.00; and

  8. Passport application costs OMR12.00. (For Emergency Certificate, the fee is OMR6.00)
