The Ministry of Defence of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan hosted the 14th Joint Committee on Defence Cooperation (JCDC) from 27 to 30 November 2023. On the Malaysia side, the JCDC was led by His Excellency Datuk Seri Isham bin Ishak, Secretary General, Ministry of Defence of Malaysia while the Pakistani side was led by His Excellency Lt Gen (Retd) Hamood Uz Zaman Khan, Secretary, Ministry of Defence of Pakistan. Ambassador Mohammad Azhar Bin Mazlan, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan also took part in the meeting.
During the meeting, both sides discussed bilateral cooperation in the field of defence. Both sides agreed that bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Malaysia in all spheres particularly in defence should be reinvigorated by focusing on achieving the set targets. Matters relating to defence cooperation, covering training, exchange visits and co-production of defence equipment were deliberated.
Apart from the meeting, the Malaysian delegation also visited Defence Export Promotion Organization (DEPO), Islamabad, Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT), Pakistan Ordinance Factory (POF) Wah, Global Industries Defence Solutions (GIDS), Rawalpindi and National Aerospace Science & Technology Park (NASTP) Rawalpindi.
Both sides expressed their desire to work together for enhanced cooperation in defence and security-related fields. The 15th Meeting of Pakistan-Malaysia JCDC would be hosted by Malaysia on mutually agreed dates next year.
