COURTESY CALL BY MR. SAMIR KHAN, SENIOR REPRESENTATIVE OF THE PAKISTAN INTERNATIONAL AIRLINES (PIA) ON 3 FEBRUARY 2009 On Tuesday, 3 February 2009, HIS EXCELLENCY AMBASSADOR AHMAD SHAHIZAN ABD SAMAD, High Commissioner of Malaysia, received a courtesy call from MR. SAMIR KHAN, Senior Representative of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) at the chancery of the High Commission at 2:30 p.m. Essentially, the purpose of the meeting was to discuss and exchange views on the current operation of PIA flights between the two capital cities in Kuala Lumpur and Islamabad.
MR. SAMIR KHAN further sought information from HIS EXCELLENCY on some statistics, such as the number of visas issued by the High Commission in Islamabad, the various potentials and options of flights connectivity in both Kuala Lumpur and Islamabad, and the remarkable ?strategic hub? of Kuala Lumpur to other ASEAN?s cities and, beyond it, to Australia, Japan, China, Republic of Korea and many more destinations around the world.
In summary, AMBASSADOR AHMAD SHAHIZAN was optimistic and enthusiastic of PIA?s vision towards direct and effective flights connectivity to Kuala Lumpur and Islamabad (perhaps, including Lahore and Karachi). And, above it all, a timely venture by Pakistan through PIA to further strengthen and promote the brotherly warm and close bilateral relations with Malaysia, come to being almost 52 years of diplomatic relations that had weathered the test of time to-date !
