DINNER TO HONOUR THE NEW CHAIRMANSHIP OF THE ASEAN ISLAMABAD COMMITTEE
AND CELEBRATION OF THE NEW YEAR 2009
AT RUMAH MALAYSIA
On Friday, 16 January 2009, HIS EXCELLENCY AMBASSADOR AHMAD SHAHIZAN ABD SAMAD, the new Chairman of the ASEAN Islamabad Committee (AIC) hosted a dinner in honour of the ASEAN Heads of Missions and spouses, the deputies and Defence Advisors, Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, CEOs of ASEAN private sectors based in Islamabad and ?Friends of Malaysia.? Besides the Chairmanship of AIC, the dinner was organized to celebrate the advent of the New Year 2009.
In his remarks, AMBASSADOR AHMAD SHAHIZAN took the opportunity to share his vision towards a proactive and participative approach to enhance the bilateral relations between the ASEAN Member Countries and Pakistan as well as to promote the image of Malaysia in this country. In addition, he welcomed for the first time the initiative to bring together several key players of the ASEAN private sectors and businessmen in Pakistan, particularly in Islamabad, towards the spirit and realization of an ASEAN COMMUNITY by 2015. Furthermore, he eloquently displayed tremendous passion for Pakistan in understanding its unique culture, diversity and people, especially in terms of business and investment opportunities and also the socio-cultural aspect of people-to-people contacts between ASEAN and Pakistan in the years to come.
