On Friday, 8 December 2023, Ambassador Azhar attended the International Human Rights Day under the theme of "Dignity, Freedom & Justice for all" at Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad. The event was organised by the Ministry of Human Rights of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. President Dr. Arif Alvi graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event was attended by the diplomatic corps based in Islamabad.
In his address, President Alvi reiterated to protect the rights of all citizens irrespective of their caste, colour and creed and said that Pakistan was committed to upholding of their rights as enshrined in the Constitution of Pakistan, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other relevant international instruments.
