On Wednesday, 15 November 2023, Ambassador Azhar attended the inaugural session of Margalla Dialogue 2023 at Marriott Hotel, Islamabad. The event was organised by Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI) with the theme of ‘Evolving World Environment: Chartering the Course for our Future’. President Dr. Arif Alvi graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
In his remarks, President Dr. Arif Alvi urged the world powers to come forward and play their due role for global peace. The President said the world needed a unified approach to save humanity from violence. The President condemned the barbarism of Israel on Palestinians, adding that the killing of innocent civilians was a clear violation of international laws.
President Alvi called upon the UN to resolve a new cardinal role in working for peace and a just society based on value of emancipation and humanity. He stated that there was a greater role of the UN in waging peace initiatives to prevent disputes from escalating into conflicts and an effective mechanism to stop wars.
