On Sunday, 1 December 2024, Ambassador Dato' Azhar and To' Puan Amelia attended the Pakistan Foreign Office Women Association (PFOWA) Annual Charity Bazaar" at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad. His Excellency Senator Ishaq Dar. Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister graced the occasion as Chief Guest. The bazaar, aimed at supporting underprivileged communities, brought together diplomats and their families, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of different countries. Cultural stalls from various embassies were displayed at the bazaar. A ‘Parade of Nations’ was also held featuring children of diplomatic staff.
In his address at the event, the DPM Ishaq Dar said the bazaar provided a great opportunity to the people of Islamabad and Rawalpindi to have a glimpse of the rich culture of other countries through their food and handicrafts, and help in charitable causes being persuaded by the association. Dar added that the bazaar was a captivating blend of diverse cultures and a variety of experiences, fostering harmony and fraternity among different nations. He extended his gratitude to the diplomatic community and the residents in Islamabad for their active participation in the event.
Dar also noted that the theme of event “Joining hands, joining hearts” was apt under the current challenges which the whole globe was suffering. He then took the opportunity to highlight on the devastating flood in Malaysia which has affected more than 140,000 people and extend heartfelt condolences and solidarity to those affected.
Through this initiative, the PFOWA Bazaar not only provided a platform for cultural exchange but also played an important role in raising funds for the support of underprivileged communities in Pakistan.
