In conjunction with Malaysia’s 68th National Day and the 62nd Malaysia Day, His Excellency Dato’ Mohamad Azhar Mazlan, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan, undertook an official visit to Karachi on 13 September 2025. The Consulate General of Malaysia in Karachi arranged for His Excellency to inaugurate the newly established CT Scan Centre at Kharadar General Hospital, a landmark institution that has served the underprivileged since its founding in 1918.

The event symbolised Malaysia’s commitment to linking its diplomatic presence with meaningful contributions to Pakistan’s social and developmental landscape. It also demonstrated how bilateral ties rooted in a Strategic Partnership established on 22 March 2019 are being translated into practical cooperation that connects healthcare, business and community welfare.

Kharadar General Hospital began as a maternity home and has grown into a tertiary-level facility serving millions from deprived communities in Karachi. The inauguration of the CT Scan Centre, offering critical diagnostic capacity, reinforced the hospital’s role as a lifeline for the poor.

The inauguration in Karachi was an expression of this Strategic Partnership. It illustrated how Malaysia’s private sector presence in Pakistan particularly in food security can be coupled with humanitarian initiatives to deliver broader benefits to society. By supporting an institution serving the most vulnerable, Malaysia projected itself as a partner not only in commerce but in social development, aligning with the principles of Malaysia MADANI and the “prosper-thy-neighbour” ethos.
