BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION OF HIS MAJESTY SERI PADUKA BAGINDA YANG DI-PERTUAN AGONG, RUMAH MALAYSIA, 7 JUNE 2008

The Embassy of Malaysia organised a get-together between Malaysians on the occasion of the birthday of His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong XIII at H.E. Ambassador’s Official Residence (Rumah Malaysia) on Saturday, 7 June 2008. It was attended by approximately 250 Malaysians comprised of All Home Based Staff (HBS), Locally Recruited Staff (LRS) and Malaysians residing and registered with the Embassy of Malaysia. The celebration began at 10.30 a.m. until 1.00 p.m.

            Recitation of "doa"

The celebration started off with a recitation of “doa” to bless the celebration, followed by singing of the National Anthem and the raising of the Malaysia’s flag “Jalur Gemilang”. Afterward, H.E Dato’ Ambassador Ahmad Rasidi Hazizi delivered a short remark welcoming all Malaysians to the Residence. In his speech, he thanked all the invitees for coming to the event despite it being held on a long weekend holiday (Saturday, Sunday and Monday) in conjunction with the National Day of the Philippines which falls on Monday. H.E Dato’ Ambassador called upon Malaysians residing in the Philippines to be united. They are advised to affiliate themselves with the Embassy and the Malaysian Association in the Philippines (MAP). They are also advised to be active in all MAP’s activities such as the annual MAP’s Gala Dinner and the upcoming MAP’s Annual Golf Tournament. H.E Dato’ Ambassador also informed that the Embassy of Malaysia had requested from the Government some allocation to fund MAP’s activities. The strong affiliation would ensure a more cohesive Malaysian society which is able to withstand the challenges of living abroad. He also advised Malaysians to support the Government’s decision although it is unpopular, such as the increase in fuel prices recently.  He also stressed the need for Malaysians to uphold the dignity and good name of our nation by abiding to the laws of the host country.

After the birthday celebration was officiated, all guests were invited for an early lunch. They were treated with fried beehoon, laksa johor, soto, curry puffs, nasi lemak, beef rendang, assorted cakes and fruits to go with coffee, tea and “teh tarik”. The guests were then invited to join several indoor and outdoor games such including a karaoke singing contest which was quite popular with the invitees. Winners and participants of various activities were rewarded with prizes and goodies bags.
