The Malaysian High Commissioner His Excellency Jilid Kuminding hosted the 57th National Day of Malaysia reception at Laguna Hotel, on 3 September 2014. The event was attended by 200 guests. Among the attendees were Hon. Patrick Pruaitch, Minister for Treasury, Hon. Justin Tkachencko, Minister for Sports & Pacific Games, Hon. Ben Mica, Minister for Public, government officials, members of diplomatic corps, businessmen, media representatives, NGOs and Malaysians.
In his speech, H.E. High Commissioner expressed appreciation to the Government and people of Papua New Guinea for their continued support to Malaysia’s investment in Papua New Guinea and confident that the bilateral relations will grow stronger for years to come. Malaysia is among the largest investors in Papua New Guinea and major job provider with proposed investment value of Kina 6.5 billion for the past five years in sectors such as wholesale and retail, ICT, agriculture and plantation, forestry, financial intermediation and manufacturing.
