DINNER HOSTED BY PYT HIGH COMMISSIONER TO HONOUR THE APPOINTMENT OF AMBASSADOR LUCY BOGARI AS ACTING SECRETARY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND TRADE OF PAPUA NEW GUINEA
PYT Datin Seri Blanche Olbery, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Papua New Guinea hosted a dinner on 5 May 2012 at the Royal Papua Yacht Club to honour the appointment of Ambassador Lucy Bogari as the Acting Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Papua New Guinea. The dinner was organised by PYT High Commissioner in her capacity as Dean of the Diplomatic Corps
In her welcoming speech, PYT High Commissioner paid tribute to Ambassador Bogari and described the Acting Secretary as a remarkable lady diplomat who has achieved great success in both her personal and professional life. She remarked that a close collaborative cooperation between the 16 foreign missions in PNG and the government agencies is crucial in view of the rapid development of various sectors in this country. As the 7th High Commissioner since the opening of Malaysia High Commission office in 1982, PYT High Commissioner was pleased to note the present state of bilateral relations between Malaysia and PNG that was generated by the active economic, investment and technical cooperation.
In her reply, Ambassador Bogari expressed her appreciation to the High Commission and the Diplomatic corps for hosting the dinner which she considered as a gesture of goodwill. She expressed her desire to see more interactions between the government agencies and diplomatic missions in PNG and pledged commitment on behalf of the DFAT to realise the success of this cooperation.
The dinner was attended by 50 guests that include PNG’s government officials, Heads as well as members of the Diplomatic Missions and media representatives.
