The Malaysian High Commissioner attended the election and swearing-in Ceremony of the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea (PNG) on 3 August 2012 at the Opening Session of the 9th PNG Parliament in Port Moresby.
The Hon. Peter O’Neill, MP for Ialibu Pangia and leader of People’s National Congress Party (PNC) was elected as Prime Minister of PNG. The former Minister of Education and a member of People’s Progress Party, Hon. Theo Zurenouc was elected as the Speaker of the House.
All other Head of Diplomatic Missions were also invited and attended the Opening Session.
