JAMUAN 1MALAYSIA AND CHRISTMAS PARTY ON 12 DECEMBER 2010

On 12th December 2010, Malaysian High Commission hosted the Jamuan 1Malaysia and Christmas Party at the Vision City Megamall, Port Moresby.
All Malaysians living in Port Moresby, friends of Malaysia and children from 4 under-privileged Homes namely, Caritas Learning Centre, Helaro Pre School, run by a Charity Organisation, Missionaries of Charity Haliuabada, Missionaries of Charity Tokarara and Cheshire Home were invited to the event. Mr. Lamech Palaso, Second Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Immigration represented the Chief Guest, Hon. Mr. Don Poyle, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration. It was attended by all Malaysian living in Port Moresby, all the Malaysian High Commission’s staff with their families, President of the Malaysian Association of PNG and Malaysian companies that were very generous to support the event in and contributed physically and morally to make the event a success.
The Malaysian High Commissioner, H.E. Datin Blanche Olbery delivered a speech.
In the interview with the media, Malaysian High Commissioner, Datin Blanche Olbery said, being the multi-cultural society, Malaysian celebrated various even including the Christmas Eve and the party was done to follow the ‘1Malaysia’ spirit, where everybody’s beliefs and cultures are fairly respected. In conjunction with the party that was planned for all the staff and families, it would be much better if the Christmas’ joy and happiness to be shared with the needed, especially the children.
In the event, Malaysian High Commission distributed school bag with pencil boxes with the stationeries for each child from the 4 Homes and all children of the LRS staff.  Food provisions were also distributed to the 4 homes. In addition, Mr. Paul Hara, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yumu Agro-Forestry Project representing its members, received food provision donation from Mansfield Enterprise (PNG) Ltd. The presentation ceremony was done by Mr. Lamech Palaso who represented the Hon. Minister Don Poyle accompanied by H.E. Datin Blanche Olbery. The children also received present from Santa Claus throughout the day and take part in the games event that was organized for the party.
The event was covered by cameramen + journalists from the National, Post Courier, EM TV and Kundu 2. Mr. Moses Tao & Hitsy Golou, the singers were on hand to entertain the invitees
The invitees were feasted with Malaysian food i.e. fried rice, fried noodle, curry chicken, sweet sour fish, sandwich assorted, curry puff, tapioca, spring roll, deep friend chicken pieces, coleslaw salad, kuih ketayap, kuih keria, roti canai with dhall curry, chicken curry, prawn curry, white rice, mutton curry, fish curry and dhalca.  Drinks sour plum drink, ice lemon tea, coca-cola, sprite and mineral water.
