'JAMUAN PROGRAM MENDAMPINGI RAKYAT' AND CHRISTMAS PARTY ON 18 DECEMBER 2011
On 18th December 2011, Malaysian High Commission hosted the 'Jamuan Program Mendampingi Rakyat' and Christmas Party at the Vision City Megamall, Port Moresby.
Malaysians living in Port Moresby, friends of Malaysia, diplomats, 99 children from Cheshire Disability Services, Caritas Learning Centre, City Mission (PNG) and PNG Children Foundation and staff of High Commission’s staff with their families, President of the Malaysian Association of Papua New Guinea and Malaysian companies that were very generous to support the event and contributed physically and morally to make the event a success.
The Malaysian High Commissioner, H.E. Datin Seri Blanche Olbery delivered a speech thanking Mr. Aaron Sia of the Vision City Food Court and The Woks Limited for arranging the food for the party in a short notice. This is the third Christmas Party being held by the Malaysian High Commission in Port Moresby. She said in her closing speech that her admiration goes out to the people of Papua New Guinea who have been so peaceful and calm and composed during the trying times in the current political impasse situation.
The Malaysian High Commissioner distributed Christmas gifts for each child from the 4 Homes and all children of the Locally Recruited Staff (LRS). Food provisions and other items requested by the Homes were also distributed to the 4 homes. All the LRS of the High Commission also received a food hamper each.
The event was covered by cameramen and journalists from the National and Post Courier. Mr. Joe Aribi and his musical team were on hand to entertain the invitees with X’mas songs.
The invitees were feted with mee goreng mamak, fried rice, fried mee hoon, chicken stew, assorted sandwiches, fried chips, chicken nuggets, muffins, cakes, roti canai with dhall curry, kuih bingka ubi, kuih lapis and soft drinks.
The local newspapers Post Courier dated 19 December 2011 carried the news report entitle “SHARING XMAS WITH NEEDY”.
