MBC Golf Charity 2007

The Malaysian Association of Papua New Guinea has organized for the 7th consecutive year the MBC Charity Golf held on 25 May 2007. The annual event has attracted more than 125 sponsors with major sponsors coming from Brian Bell, Air Niugini, Rimbunan Hijau Group and 2FastMotors. The presentation night was held the next day at the RH Grand Palace Restaurant where highly valued items were also auctioned. The annual golf tournament has raised the amount of Kina 285,000 (USD 94,000) with Port Moresby General Hospital received the highest recipient of USD 41,500 and the rest of the money given to other charities organizations in Papua New Guinea.

 

The High Commission of Malaysia has again this year sponsored a team which finished fourth from over 40 teams participating. The Charge d’ Affaires, Mr. Zainal Izran Zahari during his speech attributed the success of the charity golf for the continuous support and participation from the golfing fraternity, business houses, expatriate golfing communities and individuals. Sir Brian Bell, Chairman of Port Moresby General Hospital upon receiving the check from the President of MAPNG, Mr. Nathan Ho, Chairman of Organising Committee, Mr Ivan Lu and the Charge d’ Affaires, Mr. Zainal Izran Zahari praised and congratulate the Malaysian Association for organizing the charity golf. Minister of Community Development, Dame Carol Kidu on behalf of Sir Buri Kidu Heart Foundation upon receiving check of USD 6,600 expressed her gratitude towards the MAPNG.

 

The events were well covered by media representatives in Papua New Guinea by main English newspapers in Papua New Guinea namely The National and The Post Courier.
