MEETING WITH THE MANAGING DIRECTOR OF INVESTMENT PROMOTION AUTHORITY (IPA) OF PAPUA NEW GUINEA, 9 MARCH 2011
The Malaysian High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea, H.E. Datin Seri Blanche Olbery, together with Mr. Nur Azman Rahim, Counsellor / Head of Chancery and Tn Hj Khirul Anuar Esa, Third Secretary of the High Commission of Malaysia met with the Managing Director of Investment Promotion Authority (IPA), Mr. Ivan Pomaleu at his Office. They were given a briefing for almost two (2) hours on the operation of IPA and the gas and mining sectors investment opportunities available in Papua New Guinea and the registration of new Malaysian companies either as ‘local’ or ‘foreign’ status companies. Last year alone 600 new companies registered in Papua New Guinea.
Mr. Pomaleu highlighted that the PNG economy will remain positive this year due to the investors’ confidence in its economy especially in light of the LNG project. He expressed the hope that more Malaysian companies will come to invest in PNG.
