The High Commission of Malaysia in Port Moresby celebrated the 55th National Day of Malaysia on 31 August 2012 with a Merdeka Dinner hosted by the High Commissioner at her Official Residence. The Chief of Protocol of Department of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Jimmy Ovia & his wife, Friends of Malaysia, Mr. Christian & Ms. Antoinette of InterOil and Mr. Rashed Ahmed, General Manager of British American Tobacco, Malaysians – Mr. Ang Cheng Chooi, President of Malaysian Association of Papua New Guinea (MAPNG) and Mr. Chew Pang Heng, Vice President of MAPNG joined the HBS & family in the celebration. All were treated to a variety of Malaysian cuisines as well as moon cakes and watched the live telecast of the 55th National Day celebration in Dataran Merdeka and Stadium Bukit Jalil.
