Malaysia's Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation, Honorable Datuk Dr Maximux Johnity Ongkili and Papua New Guinea's Minister for Communication and Information, Honorable Patrick Tammur have expressed full satisfaction that both countries have laid the foundation for mutual technical cooperation in the field of Information Communication Technology after an historic event of Signing of an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding on ICT) witnessed by Grand Chief, Sir Michael Somare, the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea on 24th March 2009 in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

Speaking immediately at a joint Press Conference after Signing of the MOU on ICT in Port Moresby at the State Function Room in Parliament, both Ministers agreed on the formation of a Joint Committee on ICT (JC-ICT) between the two countries. This committee will work towards realizing the aspirations and the intent of two countries as expressed in the MOU. They announced that the membership on the Joint Committee will include Department of Communication and Information, Department of National Planning and Monitoring, Department of Attorney General, Department of Prime Minister and NEC, Department of Foreign Affairs and Immigration from   |
