The Malaysian High Commissioner, H.E. Datin Seri Blanche Olbery attended the Official Opening of the 9th Parliament of Papua New Guinea at the invitation of the Speaker of the National Parliament on 21 August 2012 at the Parliament House. Governor-General Grand Chief Sir Michael Ogio, had officially opened Papua New Guinea’s 9th Parliament (2012-2017). The Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, Hon. Peter O'Neill, Deputy Prime Minister, Hon. Leo Dion, the Cabinet and all other Members of Parliament as well as the Opposition Members of Parliament were present at the official opening. The new government was presented a colourful welcome as traditional dances, singsings and bilas marked the opening of the 9th Parliament of Papua New Guinea.
