PRESENTATION OF CREDENTIALS TO GOVERNOR GENERAL OF PAPUA NEW GUINEA

On 7 August 2009, Her Excellency Datin Blanche Olbery, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Papua New Guinea, The Grand Chief, His Excellency Sir Paulias N Matane at the Government House.

 

 

Her Excellency Datin Blanche was accompanied by her husband, Datuk Dr. M. Kayveas and two officials from the High Commission of Malaysia, namely Mr. Nur Azman Abdul Rahim, First Secretary and Mr. Saifulnizam Wahid, Third Secretary.

 

 

In her speech, Her Excellency Datin Blanche highlighted that Malaysia and PNG share similar views and aspirations at the regional and multiregional levels, on issues of mutual interests such as trade, investment, education, capacity building and environmental conversation. Her Excellency described that bilateral relations between Malaysia and PNG is always in the forward momentum and urged both nations to further intensify their efforts in strengthening and deepening the relations.

 

 

Sir Paulias responded in his speech by saying that the PNG Government concurred with the views and also described Malaysia as an important partner to PNG. Sir Paulias added that Malaysia is the biggest investors in the PNG Forest sector with an estimated capital of K250 million (RM 190 million). Sir Paulias concluded the ceremony by mentioning that both nations shared fundamental values and principle of democracy, mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, human dignity and development aspirations that aim to enhance the interests and well-being of their respective citizens.

 

 

Her Excellency Datin Blanche is the first lady Ambassador appointed by the Malaysian Government to serve in Papua New Guinea. Her Excellency High Commissioner is also accredited to Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. The High Commissioner graduated from the University of Buckingham, England with an honours degree in Law.
