PRESENTATION OF CREDENTIALS TO GOVERNOR GENERAL OF PAPUA NEW GUINEA

On 15 October 2013, His Excellency Amb. Jilid Kuminding, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Papua New Guinea, presented to the Letter of Credence to the Governor-General of Papua New Guinea (PNG), His Excellency Grand Chief Sir Michael Ogio at 10.00 am at Government House.

 

The High Commissioner was accompanied by his wife Puan Noraimeh Abdul Jalil, Counsellor Encik Farzamie Sarkawi, Second Secretary Encik Tan Seng Khee and his wife Puan Ong Gim Hoon.

 

In his speech, the High Commissioner highlighted that Malaysia and PNG share similar views and aspirations at the regional and multiregional levels, on issues of mutual interests such as trade, investment, education, capacity building and environmental conversation.  The High Commissioner further described bilateral relations between Malaysia and PNG as always in the forward momentum and expressed hope that both nations to further intensify their efforts in strengthening and deepening the relations.

Grand Chief Sir Ogio responded by saying that the PNG Government concurred with the views and also described Malaysia as an important partner to PNG.  Both nations shared fundamental values and principle of democracy, mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, human dignity and development aspirations that aim to enhance the well-being of their respective citizens.

His Excellency Amb. Jilid Kuminding is the 9th High Commissioner appointed by the Malaysian Government to serve in Papua New Guinea, accredited to Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.

The local newspapers "The National", “Post Courier” and “Sunday Chronicle” also reported the event.
