THE HIGH COMMISSIONER OF MALAYSIA TO PAPUA NEW GUINEA AT THE OFFICIAL SIGNING CEREMONY BETWEEN PROSPER PALM OIL PRODUCTS MARKETING SDN BHD, KELANA JAYA, SELANGOR AND THE BEWANI LANDOWNERS IN THE VANIMO-GREEN ELECTORATE, WEST SEPIK, 28 OCTOBER 2010 AT VANIMO, WEST SEPIK PROVINCE
The High Commissioner of Malaysia to Papua New Guinea, H.E. Datin Blanche Olbery attended the official signing ceremony between Prosper Palm Oil Products Marketing Sdn Bhd, Kelana Jaya, Selangor and the Bewani Landowners in the Vanimo-Green Elextorate, West Sepik on 28 October 2010, at Wara Mei Camp Site, Bewani, Vanimo / Green River District, West Sepik Province.
The joint venture is between the people of Bewani in the Vanimo-Green electorate, West Sepik and the Malaysian Palm Oil Investor company, the Prosper Group to develop 140,000 hactares of virgin forest land into an oil palm project. The agreement was signed by Bewani leaders Mr. Jim Sumuk and Bob Namah and Prosper Group’s Managing Director, Mr. Tee Kim Tee.
It is the single largest oil palm plantation in Papua New Guinea and the project was the initiative of Vanimo-Green MP and PNG Party leader Belden Namah. The guest speaker was Abau MP Sir Puka Temu.
The High Commissioner of Malaysia informed that the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) would be willing to render any kind of technical assistance if the request is made through the Agricultural department as how it was done in Solomon Islands.
